It’s a very nice tablet, but not quite what I was looking for.
I was hoping to find a sunlight-readable tablet that was effective outdoors in the direct sunshine. Unfortunately, the screen of this tablet acts like a mirror, reflecting the background, washing out what’s showing on the screen. It works great in the shade, but not in direct sunlight. Perhaps what I was looking for is impossible.
It’s definitely rugged, and appears to be seriously water-resistant (although I haven’t tested that). It has a huge battery, which gives it excellent battery life. I was a bit surprised at how heavy it is, but that’s reasonable considering the ruggedness, and the power required for long battery life with a very bright screen.
